Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile is reportedly nearing a transfer to Tunisian giants Esperance. The Namibian has been pushing for his exit from the Tshwane giants since January.
His desire for a transfer comes after his playing time significantly decreased last season under the guidance of head coach Miguel Cardoso.
Shalulile left the Masandawana camp on Friday morning ahead of Sundayโs MTN8 quarter-final clash against Richards Bay FC at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville, Pretoria.
Sources close to the situation suggest the 31-year-old will be part of a swap deal, with a player from Tunisian giants Esperance heading in the opposite direction.
While the specific player involved in the swap deal remains unconfirmed, reports suggest it could be Elias Mokwana, Yann Sassi, or Rodrigo Rodriguez heading to the Tshwane giants.
Esperance have been looking to bolster their attack in an effort to improve their showing in the CAF Champions League, having last won the tournament in 2019.
SHALULILE NEARS SUNDOWNS EXIT FOR ESPERANCE

Since joining Sundowns from Highlands Park in the 2020/21 season, Shalulile has been a key player and a prolific goalscorer. The Brave Warriors captain has a remarkable record of 130 goals in 290 games across his PSL career with both Sundowns and Highlands Park.
However, Shalulile’s influence at Sundowns has waned in recent seasons. In the 2024/25 campaign, he recorded 11 goals and two assists in 48 appearances, following 15 goals and four assists in 39 games the season prior.
Although his contract with the Brazilians was initially set to expire in June next year, the Namibian striker has opted to depart before the start of the 2025/26 season.
Shalulile isn’t the only Sundowns player facing an uncertain future. Midfielder Neo Maema is also reportedly on his way out before the new season, while the future of Thembinkosi Lorch at the club is also being discussed.
