In a bold statement, AmaZulu FC president Sandile Zungu has set what he has described as “magical” target for his club in the 2025/26 season.
Usuthu will be one of the eight teams that will kick-off the new PSL season with MTN8 action this upcoming weekend.
They face off against Stellenbosch FC in the third quarter-final of the weekend. Their match will take place on Sunday, 3 August at the Cape Town Stadium at 3 PM.
They will then turn their attention to the Betway Premiership, where they will open their league campaign by hosting newcomers Orbit College FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 9 August.
AmaZulu’s ambitious boss Zungu says the club’s long-standing goal of finishing in the top four remains unchanged, a “magical number” they’ve consistently aimed for in recent seasons.

AMBITIOUS ZUNGU ON WHAT HE WANTS AMAZULU TO ACHIEVE
“The target for AmaZulu hasn’t changed, we are aiming for a top four finish,” said Zungu.
“A top-four finish is a magical number because we just want to be known as a top quarterly team. When you talk about the top four teams, we want AmaZulu to be matching there.
“Right now, people talk about the top three teams, I’m sure they will want to say top four teams. They are keeping that space reserved for AmaZulu football club.
“And certainly in terms of brand, we’re one of the strongest brands in the PSL. There’s no question about it. In terms of longevity, we’re the oldest team in the PSL. No one is older than us; we were founded in 1932, the next team is 1937, and others are babies.
“We don’t just want to be known as the oldest team. We want to be known as a team that has accomplished things. AmaZulu want to be consistently a top-eight team and a top-four team.
“Once you’re in the top four, to take the cup becomes easier because you’re already there in the mix.”
