Betway Premiership newbies Durban City FC have been left with fingers crossed, hoping to convince Zimbabwean striker Washington Navaya to join the club.
Navaya, one of the leading goalscorers in the on-going Zimbabwean PSL season, charmed the Gavin Hunt coached-side.
A source at Zimbabwean side TelOne FC confirmed to FARPost that Durban City FC tabled a lucrative offer for the striker a few days after his four-day assessment last month.
However, the 27-year-old has suddenly become lackadaisical about making the switch to the lucrative Betway Premiership.
WASHINGTON NAVAYA YET TO MAKE A DECISION ON JOINING DURBAN CITY FC

FARPost understands that his current club, TelOne FC is keen on letting him go as they look to cash in on the transfer. Navaya has four months remaining on his contract.
The ‘Navigator’ as he is known, has been exceptional throughout the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season with 11 goals after 23 matches.
He is tied on the same number of goals with Billy Veremu of MWOS FC. With 11 league games remaining before the curtain goes down, the striker might reach the 20-goal mark.
So far, Durban City FC have confirmed the signing of seasoned goalkeeper Dareen Keet. Keet joined as a free agent after parting ways with Cape Town City FC. That was after CT City’s relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
They have also signed defender Liam De Kock, Ghanaian international goalkeeper Fredrick Asare, and forward Trevor Mokwena from Upington City FC. Midfielder Brooklyn Poggenpoel concludes the list of the signings they have made so far. However, a number of players have been trying their luck at the club.
These include the likes of Haashim Domingo, Thabo Nodada, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Craig Martin and Thabang Sibanyoni. They have been training with the team, hoping to impress former Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport mentor, Gavin Hunt.
