Coach Fadlu Davids has revealed his stance on luring South African football stars to his current club, Simba SC of Tanzania.
Davids is preparing for his second season at the helm of Wekundu wa Msimbazi. In his first season, Davids led Simba SC to a second-place finish in the Tanzanian Premier League.
Under his guidance, the Dar es Salaam-based club went down to the wire with Young Africans, losing the league title on the season’s final day. They also lost in the two-legged final of the CAF Confederations Cup to RS Berkane of Morocco.
And even after missing out on a major title, the club believes Davids is the right man to help deliver their goals. As such, Davids, who seeks to assemble a mean machine to challenge for titles next season, has opened up about bringing more SA stars to Tanzania.

So far, the Tanzanian giants have secured the services of former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rushine de Reuck. The 29-year-old returned from an unsuccessful stint at Maccabi Petah Tikva of Israel, where he spent the second half of the 2024/25 season.
WHAT SA COACH FADLU DAVIDS SAID
Midfielder Neo Maema has also been linked with Simba SC. In an interview with FARPost, coach Davids said he is open to luring more SA stars to Tanzania, especially those with CAF Champions League experience.
“The market is open,” said Davids. “There’s always a possibility if there are any players that are available and that are willing to come to Tanzania and have the quality to play in the Champions League, of course, we’re going to look at it.
“The market is open. We still have a few foreign spots open. We’ve made some targets and, yes, let’s see what happens. We are still working on it as a club.”
