There will be six new names in the upcoming Motsepe Foundation Championship 2025/26 season, which kicks off on Friday, 22 August.

This comes after the Premier Soccer League [PSL] sent the draft fixture to the member clubs ahead of the start of the season.

FARPost  is in possession of the draft fixture schedule, which also indicates that the season will conclude on Sunday, 17 May 2026.

Leicesterford City FC are one of the newbies in the league following the completion of their purchase of the JDR Stars status. The club owned by Limpopo businessman Lister Makatoane will be playing their home matches at Kameelrivier Stadium in Mpumalanga.

WHO ARE THE NEW NAMES IN THE MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP AHEAD OF THE NEW SEASON?

The other new club is Lerumo Lions FC from the North West province. As this publication reported most recently, the Sibongile Marokana-owned club bought the status of Pretoria Callies.

The expulsion of Royal AM from the Premier Soccer League also meant that three teams were promoted from the SAFA ABC Motsepe League. The playoffs, surrounded by controversy, took place last month in Pretoria.

Gomora United FC [Gauteng], The Bees FC [Mpumalanga] and Midlands Wanderers FC [KZN] were the three teams that gained promotion to the National First Division.

Cape Town City FC are the sixth new name that will be competing in the lower division. CT City were relegated from the Betway premiership at the end of the 2024/25 season. They will be playing their home matches at the Athlone Stadium.

The other teams in the NFD from last season are Baroka FC, Upington City FC, Black Leopards, Venda FC, Kruger United, AmaTuks, Highbury FC, Milford FC, Casric Stars, and Hungry Lions.

Just like the Premier Division, the Motsepe Foundation Championship will take a six-week break from December to January due to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON].
