Chiefs defender on TS Galaxy’s radar with Ndamane set for Sundowns

TS Galaxy are reportedly targeting a Kaizer Chiefs defender as their centre-back, Khulumani Ndamane, is on the verge of a big-money move to Mamelodi Sundowns.

With Ndamane, a highly-rated, left-footed defender, set to depart, the Rockets have turned their attention to another Amakhosi talent.

Talks between Masandawana and Galaxy regarding the Bafana Bafana international have been ongoing. The 21-year-old Ndamane is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Argentine defender Lucas Suarez, whose unimpressive six-month loan spell ended in June.

While Sundowns have veteran Mosa Lebusa at that position, they are reportedly keen on a younger option.

Given Galaxy’s willingness to sell the player to the reigning Betway Premiership champions, the transfer is expected to be finalised soon.

WHO TS GALAXY ARE TARGETING AS A REPLACEMENT FOR NDAMANE

TS Galaxy have identified 21-year-old centre-back Xolani Cossa as a potential replacement for Ndamane. Cossa, who is known for his excellent long-range passing, is reportedly keen to leave Chiefs after struggling to secure a spot in the senior team.

His path to the first team was blocked by the acquisitions of Rushwin Dortley and Bradley Cross, as well as the impressive form of Aden McCarthy. With just one year left on his development contract, indications are that the Soweto giants are open to letting him go on loan.

Ndamane’s potential transfer aligns with TS Galaxy’s business model. The club readily sells its top players to reinvest in the squad. In this transfer window, they sold Kamogelo Sebelebele to Orlando Pirates. Last season, Samukele Kabini moved to Norwegian club Molde FK.

Ndamane, who joined TS Galaxy at the start of last season, made 27 appearances across all competitions. The ex-Chiefs defender even caught the eye of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, who handed him his debut in June.
