Ex-Baroka and Swallows striker finds new home

Naeem Amoojee during his stint at Leruma United

FARPost has it on good authority that ex-Baroka FC and Moroka Swallows frontman Naeem Amoojee has been roped in by Motsepe Foundation Championship club Highbury FC.

This publication can reveal that the deal was finalised on Monday, as the Eastern Cape side is working hard behind the scenes to build a solid squad for the 2025/26 campaign.

The 28-year-old signs for Highbury from Leruma United, who were relegated from the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.

He joined Leruma United in the second round of the South African football second-tier in the last term, where he managed to score six goals in 15 appearances.

However, his decent displays couldn’t come to Leruma’s rescue, who finished the 2024/25 season at the bottom [16th place] of the table with 27 points after 30 games.

In his football career, Amoojee has also represented teams such as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM], African All Stars, and Lesco FC.

This website can reveal that Amoojee has signed a one-year deal with the Kabelo Sibiya-coached side ahead of the second-tier league season set to start on Friday, 22 August 2025.

Highbury expects the talented goal-scorer to add value to the club’s striking options and help the side to challenge for automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership.

Last season, Highbury finished in position nine after collecting 38 points from 30 outings. This was their first season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, having secured promotion after winning the 2023/24 SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs.
