Former Durban City FC striker Menzi Ndwandwe has joined the Motsepe Foundation Championship side Highbury FC, signing with the club on a free transfer.
โThe Citizensโ conducted a massive clear-out at the end of the previous campaign, parting ways with more than 15 players as they overhauled their squad for the new season.
Most of the departed players had played huge roles in the promotion of the Durban-based club to the Betway Premiership last season.
Adding to the player exodus, head coach Simo Dladla parted company with the club as well. He was replaced by Gavin Hunt and now serves as an assistant coach to Arthur Zwane at AmaZulu FC.
HIGHBURY STRENGTHENING TEAM FOR NEXT SEASON
One of the players they released, Menzi Ndwandwe, who had been in the books of Durban City for only six months, has signed for Highbury, who are strengthening their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The centre-forward, Ndwandwe, had only joined Farouk Kadodia’s side from Magesi FC in January as part of a swap deal that sent Ntsako Makhubela in the opposite direction.

The striker brings top-flight experience to Highbury, who are aiming for promotion to the Betway Premiership. Apart from Magesi FC, Ndwandwe has previously turned out for Royal AM, TS Galaxy and Chippa United in the top-tier of SA football.ย
At Highbury FC, he joins the likes of Samkelo Jali, who signed as a free agent after leaving Chippa United last month.
Jali found himself on the lengthy list of players who were released by the club following the conclusion of the previous campaign.
With Chippa, this followed changes in the coaching personnel, with the club appointing Sinethemba Badela as the new head coach, replacing Thabo September, who decided to leave after being told he would be demoted to an assistant coach role.
The club also appointed Sinesipho Mali as the sporting director. He returns to the club after leaving Sekhukhune United, where he was serving as a performance analyst.
