Renowned football agent Mike Makaab has addressed the rumours linking former Mamelodi Sundowns star Rivaldo Coetzee with a move to Simba SC.
The defender-cum-midfielder has been a free agent after parting ways with Masandawana at the end of the previous Betway Premiership season.
Coetzee left Sundowns after the expiry of his contract on June 30, as the club decided against keeping him beyond the 2024/25 campaign.
The 28-year-old had been with the Brazilians for seven seasons after signing for the club from Ajax Cape Town [now known as Cape Town Spurs] in 2018.
Coetzee completed the big move to Sundowns under the then-head coach Pitso Mosimane.
In his spell with Sundowns, Coetzee was in and out of the matchday squad due to persistent injuries. He featured in over 130 appearances in all competitions, winning several major trophies, including the African Football League [AFL].
With the Bafana Bafana international searching for a club to bring his career back on track, he has been linked with a move to Simba.
The Tanzanian giants are reportedly looking to sign a handful of South African players under the guidance of Fadlu Davids.
WHAT RIVALDO COETZEE’S AGENT SAID ABOUT SIMBA RUMOURS

In the current transfer window, Davids has already signed ex-Sundowns defender Rushine De Reuck. The duo reunites after working together at Maritzburg United [Durban City FC] between 2017 and 2018.
Coetzee’s agent, Mike Makaab, has commented on the Simba rumours, revealing that there’s nothing formal between the two parties.
“We are hoping that in the next few weeks Rivaldo will be back to full fitness, as for the talks about Simba, all I can tell you is that there is nothing formal,” Makaab told FARPost.
Meanwhile, Rivaldo Coetzee left Downs alongside players such as Lebogang Maboe, Sipho Mbule, Sanele Tshabalala, Sifiso Ngobeni, Thabang Sibanyoni, and Lucas Suarez.
The Chloorkop-based side could have more exits with the future of key players Khuliso Mudau, Peter Shalulile, and Lucas Ribeiro Costa hanging in the balance.
