Amid growing interest in the services of Keletso Makgalwa, Sekhukhune United coach Eric Tinkler has revealed how the club plans to handle the future of the talented winger.

Makgalwa had one of the best seasons of his career in the 2024/25 after setting the Betway Premiership alight with his creative spark, skills, and eye for goal.

The former SA junior international joined Babina Noko at the start of the previous campaign from Upington City FC.

Sekhukhune pounced on Makgalwa on a free transfer after impressing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Upington. During his spell in the 2023/24 campaign with Bafana Ba Gucci, Makgalwa netted 11 league goals in 23 matches in the NFD.

Before joining Upington, Makgalwa played for Mamelodi Sundowns. He came up through the club’s youth academy and was promoted to the senior team by then-head coach Pitso Mosimane.

Following his return to the top-flight with Sekhukhune, the highly-rated attacker established himself as one of the key players at the club.

Last season, Makgalwa featured in 36 games across all competitions for the Limpopo-based side, scoring six goals and providing 11 assists.

His consistent performances earned him the Betway Premiership Footballer of the Season and Player’s Player of the Season nominations in the 2025 PSL awards.

Having attracted interest from several clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs, Tinkler says Sekhukhune won’t stand in Makgalwa’s way, but the offer has to meet the asking price.

“Keletso has a job to do at Sekhukhune, whether there was an offer or not, that offer doesn’t meet the criteria that the club wants,” Tinkler said.

“You are a professional footballer, and you need to move on. I’ve explained to Keletso that you were top with assists [last season]. If you want people to be serious about you, do it again.

“The people can be serious. If a club wants Keletso and they make an offer, the club is never going to stand in his way. If it’s not beneficial to the club, why would they release him?”
