Sekhukhune United loan out new signing to Magesi FC

Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United have decided to send one of their latest acquisitions, Banele Gama, on loan to Magesi FC for the new 2025/26 season.

The 26-year-old Gama completed his move early into the current transfer window, serving as one of Babina Noko’s first signings for the new campaign. The central midfielder was scouted at Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Venda FC, where he ultimately made an impression on his new top-flight employers, Sekhukhune.

The talented midfielder served as one of the most influential figures in the second-tier league at Venda FC, playing a total of 22 games with three goal conversions. With expert play in the middle of the field, Gama helped Venda retain their NFD status, finishing in 14th position.

But just shortly after completing the 2024/25 season at his former club, Gama was called into transfer negotiations with Sekhukhune, who were looking to strengthen their midfield after the departure of several players, including midfielder Relebogile Mokhuoane.

A successful negotiation process saw Gama complete his move to Sekhukhune on a three-year permanent deal.

BANELE GAMA SET FOR LOAN SPELL AT MAGESI FC

Although Sekhukhune had initially been impressed with Gama and decided to sign him, it appears there has been a turn of events.

FARPost has learned that the midfielder is set to be shipped out on a season-long loan to Magesi FC. This publication has also discovered that after a thorough assessment of the player, the ultimate decision was that he will not be part of head coach Eric Tinkler’s plans in the upcoming season.

He will be eager to win back Tinkler’s favour with his performances while playing for the Carling Knockout Cup champions – Magesi in the 2025/26 season.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune will begin their league season with a match against Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium this Saturday. Gama, on the other hand, will be hoping to get some playing time when Magesi take on Polokwane City FC in the Limpopo Derby, also on Saturday, at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
