The reason behind Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat’s reunion

Scottland FC coach Tonderai Ndiraya has revealed the reason they made frantic efforts to reunite Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat.

The ambitious Zimbabwean club has emerged as the desired destination for most players in Zimbabwe, as they are offering competitive salaries.

Former Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United defender Edwin Gyimah also tried his luck in joining the club, but nothing materialised.

Undoubtedly, their decision to sign Musona following his exit from the Saudi Pro League has been regarded as a masterstroke, one that has sent shivers down the spine of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League of Zimbabwe.

Formerly of Kaizer Chiefs, Musona and Billiat are products of the Harare-based Aces Youth Soccer Academy. They emerged as a major driving force in what is statistically Zimbabwe’s most successful era.

Musona and Billiat helped The Warriors of Zimbabwe qualify for the AFCON editions in 2017, 2019 and 2021.
Though they are in the twilight of their respective careers, they are currently the two highest-paid players in Zimbabwe.

WHAT SCOTTLAND FC TONDERAI NDIRAYA SAID ABOUT MUSONA AND BILLIAT REUNION

Scottland FC coach Tonderai Ndiraya said they are trying to conquer the Zimbabwean league by forging what has statistically been the best Zimbabwean combination in the last decade.

“Knowledge is coming back. I think if we all recall, there was a time when the nation was on the shoulders of the two players, Knowledge and Khama,” he said. “So I think that was the whole idea of us bringing Knowledge into the team so that they can link up again with Khama Billiat.

“And hopefully that partnership, then of course Knowledge and Khama, then of course Knowledge and his young brother, Walter. I hope that those two combinations will really bring something to the team.

“And if you recall, I think in our [Zimbabwe] last international friendly matches, they also played like that. So we are relishing that opportunity to see them lining up like that in our next matches,” added Ndiraya.

Knowledge Musona made his debut for Scottland FC on Saturday when they beat FC Platinum 5-2 in a league match.
