Cape Town City FC have acquired the services of Dutch striker Simon van Duivenbooden ahead of the start of the 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship season.
The Cape club confirmed the signing of van Duivenbooden on Friday, 8 August 2025. He joins the Citizens on a free transfer after parting ways with Vitesse Arnhem, who compete in the Netherlandsโ second-tier league.
The 23-year-old forward has been without a club since parting ways with Vitesse Arnhem in July 2025. Last season, he played over 15 games for his former side.
Van Duivenbooden becomes the third player to be unveiled by the Jan Vreman-coached side this week as one of their new signings.
The side has already announced the acquisitions of ex-Mamelodi Sundowns defender Sifiso Ngobeni and Dutch goalkeeper Mickey van der Hart from SC Heerenveen.

CT City are set to continue to bolster their squad to strive for automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership next campaign.
Following the club’s relegation from the South African top-flight, CT City let go of nine players.
The nine players who have cut ties with the Citizens are: Thabo Nodada, Thamsanqa Mkhize, Darwin Gonzรกlez, Darren Keet, Lorenzo Gordinho, Fortune Makaringe, Haashim Domingo, Elson Sithole, and Kamohelo Mokotjo.
The club couldn’t retain their Betway Premiership status in the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs. This comes after they finished in 15th place in the Betway Premiership last season.
