Newly-promoted Betway Premiership side Durban City FC have made a U-turn on striker Joslin Kamatuka, who had left the club last month.
The Namibian international was among more than 15 players who parted company with โThe Citizensโ upon the clubโs promotion to the SA top-flight.ย
His exit came as a surprise after he played a huge role in Durban Cityโs promotion to the Betway Premiership. His significant contributions were under the leadership of Simo Dladla, who also parted ways with the club.
Kamatukaโs impressive displays earned him a nomination in a brand-new category at the 2024/25 season PSL Awards: the Motsepe Foundation Championship Playersโ Player of the Season. The award was ultimately won by Muzomuhle Khanyi [Hungry Lions].
Kamatuka had reportedly left the club after he and City could not agree on a new deal. Sources claim the club presented a low offer to the 33-year-old centre-forward ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, leading to the departure.

DURBAN CITYโS U-TURN ON STRIKER KAMATUKA
However, the former Baroka FC man is now back with the team, strengthening the striking department for the Gavin Hunt-led side.
The club has secured the services of experienced players such as Haashim Domingo, Thabo Nodada, and Darren Keet. All three signed after their former team, Cape Town City FC, was relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
They also signed Brooklyn Poggenpoel, Bokang Mokwena, Jean Lwamba, Liam de Kock, Kyle Jurgens [loan from Stellenbosch FC], Siphelele Mthembu and Frederick Asare.
There are also a couple of players who trained with the club but have seemingly not secured contracts. This includes Thulani Hlatshwayo, Thabiso Kutumela, Somila Ntsundwana and Craig Martin.
Further, Hunt recently revealed that the club expressed interest in signing former Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa and former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lebohang Maboe, but they have, so far, shown no desire to join.
The Durban-based club opens its league campaign with an away clash against TS Galaxy on Sunday, 10 August at the Mbombela Stadium.
