Despite the recent departure of star player Oswin Appollis, FARPost has learnt that veteran midfielder Cole Alexander is leading a notable list of other exits from Polokwane City FC.
The 36-year-old, Alexander, returned to Polokwane City in the Betway Premiership for his second stint at the beginning of the 2024/25 season.
The former Kaizer Chiefs player returned to Polokwane after his contract with Swedish side Helsingborgs IF came to an end.
He previously spent a successful stint at Rise and Shine between 2014 and 2016 before his move back to SuperSport United, who recently sold their PSL status to Siwelele FC.
WHO ARE THE OTHER PLAYERS THAT HAVE PARTED WAYS WITH POLOKWANE CITY?
This publication has also gathered that Zimbabwean international Douglas Mapfumo has left the club. Mapfumo joined Polokwane City in 2023 after a short stint at Black Leopards in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

His impressive performances in Polokwane City colours resulted in his return to the Zimbabwe National Team.
Meanwhile, right-winger Bafana Nana, who has been with the team since 2022, has also parted ways with the club.
Other players, whose departure this publication has gathered, are striker Mooketsi Baloyi, left-back Langelihle Ndlovu and midfielder Simphiwe Maswanganyi.
RISE AND SHINE BEGINS NEW 2025/26 SEASON WITH A LIMPOPO DERBY DRAW
Polokwane City opened their 2025/26 campaign with a 0-0 draw against neighbours Magesi FC on Saturday.
“It wasn’t a good or bad match, but I think we created better goal-scoring chances than our opponents,โ head coach of PLK City Phuti Mohafe told journalists.
โI think the match was not a true reflection. Not a required performance and results from us. But offensively, we tried and defensively, we did well considering the fact that we did not concede, and we kept the shape very well.”
Polokwane City will travel to the FNB Stadium on Wednesday, 13 August, for their second Betway Premiership match of the season against Kaizer Chiefs.
