Newbies Durban City FC surged to the summit of the Betway Premiership as Sekhukhune United maintained their perfect start to the new season.
Durban City FC beat Chippa United 1-0 in a match that was played at the Chatsworth Stadium. The win saw them leap to pole position, where they are tied on six points with Kaizer Chiefs, Marumo Gallants and Sekhukhune United after two games.
Namibian international Joslin Kamatuka emerged as the hero of the night after scoring the solitary goal of the match two minutes from full-time.
Durban City came into this one brimming with confidence after winning 2-0 against TS Galaxy in their season opener. Moreso, they were yearning to give their home supporters a good league homecoming party.
Chippa United drew 1-1 in the first match against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the opening match. And in this one, they were deadlocked at half-time until Kamatuka broke the deadlock.
At the King Zwelithini Stadium, Golden Arrows recorded their first win of the season after beating Richards Bay FC 1-0. Arrows were hoping to bounce back after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Siwelele FC.
Richards Bay also lost 2-1 to Marumo Gallants. They went to the break tied on 0-0. Junior Dion then scored the only goal of the match after 82 minutes, ensuring Arrows collect their first set of maximum points.

MAGESI FC, STELLENBOSCH FC SHARE SPOILS
At the Seshego Stadium, Magesi FC and Stellenbosch settled for a 1-1 draw in what was a riveting encounter. Magesi were coming from a 0-0 against Polokwane City, while Stellies were still licking their wounds from their 2-0 defeat to Chiefs.
But the Steve Barker-coached side showed so much determination to win, and striker Langelihle Phili scored their first goal of the season. However, Magesi restored parity in the 27th minute through Kgomotso Mosadi. As such, they remained deadlocked until the end to share spoils.
BRADLEY GROBLER SCORES THIRD GOAL AT SEKHUKHUNE UNITED
At the Peter Mokaba stadium, Bradley Grobler netted the winner for Sekhukhune United as they edged TS Galaxy. The two teams were deadlocked at the break, though Sekhukhune had a slight edge in terms of ball possession.
Deservedly, they broke the deadlock after 77 minutes courtesy of striker Grobler. That was his third goal since joining Sekhukhune United after leaving the now-defunct SuperSport United.
