AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane has sent a strong message about his team’s potential, stating what they could become once all the pieces of the puzzle fall into place.
Zwane has been at the helm as Usuthu’s sole head coach since his co-coach, Vusimuzi Vilkazi, left after tendering his resignation in February. The two had been appointed early last season to replace Pablo Franco Martin.
‘10111’, as Zwane is affectionately known, guided the club to a sixth-place finish last campaign, securing a spot in the MTN8, where they were eliminated by Stellenbosch FC in the first round in Cape Town. The KZN side has one win and a defeat in the opening two matches of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership.
According to Zwane, AmaZulu are still in the building phase with young players who are still acquiring experience and are bound to make mistakes along the way.
Zwane declared that once the team reaches its desired level, visiting clubs will come to KwaZulu-Natal only to leave empty-handed.

ZWANE WITH A BOLD PROMISE ABOUT HIS AMAZULU TEAM
“When you’re building a house, at times, there’s a time when it will be a bit shaky, and they say you’re short of material or something. Before a house is complete, there will be so many challenges; that’s where we are,” said Zwane.
“I don’t want to be too harsh on players because they are making efforts to reach the final third and create opportunities. It’s early in the season, and we are already speaking about not taking our chances?
“Some don’t even create the chances, but for us, we are where we never thought we would get to so quickly. We’re playing with young boys, and we need to give them opportunities so they can grow; that’s how you get experience.
“We will keep on working until we get everything right, and we are going to take it one step at a time. Not everything will just click immediately. But what I know and promise, once it clicks, they will see, no one will come in and get out of here in KZN. They will know that we’re going there to leave points because it will be a running machine then.”
