Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars have roped in former Baroka FC coach Amukelani ‘Jay Jay’ Hlungwani.

As FARPost had earlier reported a few weeks ago, Hlungwani parted ways with the Limpopo club, Baroka, at the end of the season.

During his three-year stay with the club, Hlungwani served as an assistant to the likes of Joel Masutha and Dan Malesela.

He was also in charge when Baroka lost 3-1 to Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals in February this year.

WHAT ROLE IS AMUKELANI HLUNGWANI IS PLAYING AT NEW SIDE CASRIC STARS?

This publication has established that Hlungwani has been roped into the club to serve as an assistant to head coach Bucs Mthombeni.

Mthombeni, who is also the clubโ€™s CEO, took over the reins in the middle of the last campaign. This is after the resignation of Sundra Govinder, who had left to join Marumo Gallants.

The arrival of Hlungwani as an assistant appears to be a direct replacement for Hassan Kehinde Falayajo, who has left the club.

MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE FILL IN VACANT TECHNICAL TEAM POSITION

As FARPost has earlier reported, Hassan Kehinde Falayajo has left the club a few weeks before the start of the season.

Falayajo, who has served as an assistant coach at the Mpumalanga-based club since 2022, has been a crucial part of the team.

He also confirmed in an interview with FARPost that he has left the club, citing a need for a โ€œfresh challenge.โ€

Casric narrowly missed out on an opportunity for promotion to the Betway Premiership last season. They qualified for the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs but failed to register a single win in the four matches. Orbit College FC were the eventual winner of the promotion playoffs mini league, with Cape Town City FC suffering relegation to the second-tier league.
