Shandre Campbell shines for Club Brugge in a dry weekend for most SA stars

Winger Shandre Campbell was on target in a low-key weekend for most Mzansi footballers plying their trade beyond the country’s borders.

The 20-year-old scored the only goal that inspired Belgian giants Club Brugge’s narrow win over Zulte Waregem on Saturday night. Campbell rose from the bench to become the toast of the night in a league match that was played at the Elindus Arena.

After being introduced in the 82nd minute, the 20-year-old scored a beautiful last-gasp goal to ensure a 1-0 victory. He sealed the win with a well-taken long-range shot just before the final whistle, his first goal for Club Brugge’s senior team.

In Tunisia, Elias Mokwana was not in the team as Esperance Tunis drew 1-1 with Monastir at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi on Friday.

YUSUF MAART AND ANTONIO VAN WYK YET TO WIN IN AUSTRIA

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart played the whole match as SV Ried lost 3-1 to SK Sturm Graz in an Austrian Bundesliga tie played at Keine Sorgen Arena on Saturday.
