The Bees have announced their squad for the upcoming 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship season, with veteran striker Ndumiso Mabena headlining the list of new signings.

The Motsepe Foundation Championship side unveiled its 32-man squad on Sunday night via their official Facebook page.

Mabena has been training with the Mpumalanga-based outfit for the past three weeks after cutting ties with Leruma United, who were relegated from the South African second-tier last season.

The former Orlando Pirates goal-scorer managed to play in seven matches across all competitions for Leruma in the last term, having joined them in March 2025.

The 38-year-old frontman brings a wealth of experience, having played for clubs such as Winners Park, Platinum Stars, Royal AM, Polokwane City FC, and Bloemfontein Celtic.

The Bees have also kept their captain and experienced midfielder Enocent Mkhabela, who played a vital role in helping the club secure promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship after finishing as the runner-up in the 2024/25 SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs.

The Bees lost 2-1 against Gomora United from Gauteng in the national playoffs final at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville last month.

In addition, Mkhabela helped the team qualify for the 2025 Nedbank Cup, where they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Polokwane City FC in the Last 32.

In the PSL, Mkhabela turned out for teams such as Platinum Stars, SuperSport United, Kaizer Chiefs, Highlands Park, and Venda FC, to mention a few.

The Bees team will be led by former Chiefs midfielder Humphrey Mlwane [head coach], Velile Zitha [first assistant coach], and Marvin Ngomane [second assistant coach].

The 2025/26 Motsepe Foundation Championship season is scheduled to kick off on Friday, 22 August 2025.
