Richards Bay FC co-coach Ronnie Gabriel has addressed the mounting pressure on him and the rest of the technical team members amid their early struggles in the season.

The Natal Rich Boyz suffered their third loss on Tuesday night, losing 1-0 to Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium in Soweto courtesy of Gaston Sirino’s strike in the second half.

The KZN side had come to this match seeking redemption after losing to their provincial rivals Golden Arrows and Free State outfit Marumo Gallants in the first two games of the campaign.

After the Chiefs encounter, Gabriel admitted that their performance on the night was below par. However, he felt they didn’t deserve to lose their first two games after dominating both matches.

Gabriel believes, as time goes, they will be able to get things right.

GABRIEL BELIEVES THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE LOST FIRST TWO GAMES

“It’s not the best start to the season, and no team would like this kind of start to the season,” said Gabriel in the post-match press conference at FNB Stadium.

“Yes, today we were not at our best, we must admit that, but based on the performances of our first two games, we were good.

“We did well in terms of goal-scoring chances created, final third entries, and possession. We did well and dominated the opponents even though we lost.

“Although we lost the last two games but we’re coming from good performances without the results. And we came here and had this type of performance today.”

Gabriel also mentioned that his team includes several inexperienced young players who are still adjusting to the demands of playing in the top-flight.

“Ideally, we would have liked to pick up points. But remember, we also have youngsters in the team. We’re getting them used to the PSL and are confident that it will come right going forward,” added Gabriel.
