Betway Premiership side Magesi FC have roped in former Royal AM coach Abram Nteo into their technical team.

Nteo served as John Madukaโ€™s assistant coach at now-defunct Royal AM. At some point, the former Bafana Bafana player also served as a co-coach alongside Khabo Zondo and Dan Malesela at the club.

The 48-year-old has now resurfaced at Limpopo-based club Magesi FC. He was on the bench in the Betway Premiership matches that the club has played so far.

IN WHAT ROLE HAS ABRAM NTEO JOINED MAGESI FC?

Nteo has joined the 2024/25 season Carling Knockout Cup champions as an assistant to coach Jo Maduka alongside Jacky Ledwaba.

Nteo has been appointed to the position previously held by Timothy Madia, who served as second assistant to Owen Da Gama.

JOHN MADUKA EXPLAINS REASONS FOR ROPING IN HIS FORMER ASSISTANT AT ROYAL AM

“It’s also to make sure that we reinforce the technical team. This is another level of football,โ€ Maduka explained to journalists.

โ€œThe PSL is unique. You need enough technical team members who will also be able to help the team achieve its goals.”

Magesi suffered their first defeat of the season against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the Seshego Stadium on Wednesday evening. Maduka described the loss as painful after missing a few chances during the match.

“It’s painful, very painful because if you look at it, it was a game of two halves,โ€ he said.

โ€œThe first-half, we had them and created good scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, we did not convert them to goals. So if you don’t score goals, a team like this comes to the second-half totally different. So thatโ€™s the only problem.

โ€œIn the first-half, the boys were on another level; they took the game to Sundowns, and it was difficult for them to deal with us, but unfortunately, they could not score goals.
