Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC has concluded the signing of former Sekhukhune United goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangaré.

The Ivory Coast international spent three seasons at the Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune after joining them from JDR Stars. But the 39-year-old was let go at the end of last season.

He joins the Limpopo Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit, who have also roped in another experienced goalkeeper, Mondli Mpoto, in the current transfer window.

Ali Sangaré joins players such as Gift Muvhali [right-back], Thapelo Makuwa [left-back], Morris Buthane [midfielder], Reshoketswi Mantjane [winger], Tetelo Lekwatsipa [midfielder], Harris Seoka [right-back], and Moseki Shongoane [defender], who were unveiled by Baroka FC last month.

BAROKA FC CHAIRMAN EXPLAINS THE SIGNING OF BADRA ALI SANGARE

Speaking to FARPost on Friday, Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele says there was a need to reinforce their goalkeeping department ahead of the new season.

“We need to move up. It’s been a long time since we were in this division. We feel that we need an experienced goalkeeper, which we never had,” Mphahlele explained.

“This time we are lucky to have him [Badra Ali Sangaré], and with his experience, we are very much fortunate.”

MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE NOT DONE WITH SIGNINGS AHEAD OF NEW SEASON

Mphahlele has also revealed that the club is done in terms of player recruitment for the season.

“We are not closed [in terms of signings]. We want to make sure that when we sign, those players must add value,” he added.

“Not just the numbers. So we are not going to rush to sign players, and they come to add the numbers. We need value for our money.”

Meanwhile, Baroka will open their 2025/26 new campaign against National First Division newcomers The Bees at the KaNyamazane Stadium in Mbombela on Sunday.
