Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has given a candid report card on the progress made by Sinoxolo Kwayiba after signing with the club in the off-season.

Kwayiba joined Pirates ahead of the 2025/26 season Betway Premiership after making a name for himself at Chippa United.

The talented attacker was one of the best players for the Chilli Boys in the past two seasons, which also earned him a Bafana Bafana call-up a few months ago.

Last season, Kwayiba featured in 28 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals, and chipping in with one assist.

After his impressive form at Chippa, the Soweto giants moved swiftly to snap up the skilful attacking midfielder. Kwayiba signed for Pirates alongside many other big names such as Sipho Mbule, Sihle Nduli, Oswin Appollis, Tshepang Moremi, Yanela Mbuthuma, Kamogelo Sebelebele, Abdoulaye Mariko, Lebone Seema, and Tshepho Mashiloane.

However, the 25-year-old has struggled to break into the Pirates’ starting line-up since the start of the new 2025/26 season.

Kwayiba has only made one appearance as a second-half substitute in the Sea Robbers’ 2-1 defeat against Marumo Gallants last week.

Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has shed light on Kwayiba’s progress, stating that the player working hard at training and will eventually get his chance.

“Kwayiba is doing a fantastic job everyday [at training], I’m very happy about his commitment,” Ouaddou said after Pirates’ 1-0 win over Stellenbosch FC at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday night.

“Like I said with many other players, his time will come, and he has to be ready to give his best for the club, like other players you have seen.

“There were a lot of questions about certain players in the previous [press] conference, and you saw them today [Wednesday], and they have to perform.”
