Kermit Erasmus among 13 players released by Casric Stars

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars have confirmed the signing of new players and have also released 13, including veteran striker Kermit Erasmus.

Casric missed out on an opportunity to secure promotion during the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs at the end of the season.

The club has, over the past few years, come close to promotion to the Betway Premiership, butย without success.

Among the new players who have joined the club is striker Sphamandla Msezane from Orlando Pirates. The 2024/25 DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] top goal scorer joins Casric on a season-long loan deal.

WHICH PLAYERS HAVE JOINED CASRIC STARS FOR THE CURRENT SEASON?

Young striker Lutendo Ravhutulu, son of well-known SABC Sport Radio and TV commentator Arnold Ravhutulu, has also been unveiled by the club. Winger Thuso Mogale has also joined the club from another second-tier league side Baroka FC.

KERMIT ERASMUS DEPARTS MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE AFTER ONE SEASON

Erasmus joined Casric during the January 2025 transfer window period. He leaves the club alongside the likes of former Kaizer Chiefs defender Yagan Sasman.

The Mpumalanga-based side has also released well-travelled midfielder Augustine Mahlonoko. In addition, Casric also lost talented defender Medupi Thokolo, who has joined Betway Premiership side Sekhukhune United.

Casric started their 2025/26 campaign with an impressive 3-0 win over Black Leopards at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Leopards played the game without any substitutes or a recognised goalkeeper due to ongoing issues with player registrations.

Defender Thendo Mukumela was forced to play as a makeshift goalkeeper in the 3-0 loss.
