The transfer fee Chiefs received for Yusuf Maart revealed

The transfer fee Kaizer Chiefs received for the sale of Yusuf Maart to Austrian side SC Ried 1912 has since emerged. Maart left Amakhosi recently to join the newly promoted Bundesliga side.

Despite recently extending his contract with Chiefs for another two years, SV Riedโ€™s offer prompted the move.

He had spent three years at Chiefs, captaining them in the previous season. Maart became the first captain to lift the trophy for Amakhosi in the last 10 years, after scoring the winning goal in the 2025 Nedbank Cup final against Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban in May.

At Amakhosi, Maart made over 90 appearances with seven goals and eight assists to his name.

At his new club, the former Sekhukhune United captain linked up with former Stellenbosch FC winger Antonio van Wyk.

The 30-year-old midfielder has already made five appearances for the club in their new season. Three of those have been starts in the league as he establishes himself as a starter in the team. The other two were substitute appearances, with one coming in the ร–FB Cup.

HOW MUCH DID SV RIED PAY FOR EX-CHIEFS STAR YUSUF MAART?

Just two months after the move was completed, the transfer fee has emerged. Amakhosi, who paid in the region of R6 million from Babina Noko in June 2022, reportedly received a fee of โ‚ฌ130 000. Converted to the South African rand, the fee is about R2.6 million.

When Chiefs bought the midfielder from Sekhukhune, there was an agreement that they would give them a 20% share should they sell him in future. That means Chiefs are obligated to pay a fee of โ‚ฌ26 000 [R530,000] to his former club.

Reports are that the two clubs could be headed for a legal battle over the unpaid sell-on clause.
