Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has opened up on the club’s mood ahead of the mouth-watering clash against Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
The Brazilians have shifted their focus to the league action after crashing out of the MTN8 semi-final this past weekend. Sundowns lost 4-1 on penalties against Orlando Pirates at the Lucas Moripe Stadium after playing to a 2-2 draw on aggregate.
This marks the second consecutive year that Masandawana have bowed out of the MTN8 semi-finals as they were also eliminated by Stellenbosch FC at the same stage last season.
The defeat to Pirates triggered a furious reaction from Sundowns supporters, who blocked the team bus at the stadium and demanded answers from management and the coaching staff.
The Tshwane giants will now face a crucial match against Chiefs, desperate to return to winning ways and collect maximum points to improve their position on the league table.
WILLIAMS EXPRESSES DISAPPOINTMENT OF CRASHING OUT OF THE MTN8
Speaking ahead of the tough clash against the high flying Glamour Boys, Williams has admitted that the mood within the Sundowns camp is not at its best level.

In the past few weeks, Sundowns has been in the news with first-team players such as Khuliso Mudau, Lucas Ribeiro Costa, Thapelo Maseko, and Kutlwano Letlhaku reportedly looking to leave the club.
“Obviously, the space we are in right now it’s not the best space to be in. You can see the guys are still a bit down,” Williams told Sundowns’ media team.
“The mood is not one of the best. Obviously, we had big objectives to start the season on a positive note, which was to go all the way in the MTN8.
“But it wasn’t to be, we just have to do it ourselves and go again. As I said, the mood is not the best, we had a nice reflection to see the good and the bad moments of the past game.
“We just need to move forward. There are a lot of tough lessons to take out of the defeat. We are all hurting with our supporters; we are in this together.
“So we are feeling the effects of being knocked out, we just need to work on the next assignment, which is a big game against Kaizer Chiefs.”
