Sekhukhune United head coach Eric Tinkler has responded to comments made by Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, who stated that his side plays the best football in the Betway Premiership.

During his FIFA World Cup qualifier squad announcement on Thursday, Broos raised concerns about the quality of football this season.

However, he picked Sekhukhune as the club that currently displays the best football in the country.

WHY ERIC TINKLER DOES NOT AGREE WITH HUGO BROOS’ REMARKS

“I don’t know. Maybe I don’t entirely agree. Like I said, you’ve got to be better on the ball. I still think there is a lot to improve in terms of how we play,” Tinkler said.

Meanwhile, Broos announced his final to face Lesotho and Nigeria in September. Despite Sekhukhune being top of the Betway Premiership currently, none of their players were in the squad.

SEKHUKHUNE UNITED COACH IS NOT SURPRISED BY THE EXCLUSION OF HIS PLAYERS

However, Tinkler says his players’ omission from the squad doesn’t come as a surprise, as the national team is performing well.

“No, I am not surprised because the national team is doing well. So, if the national team is doing well, why do you have to chop and change players?” he said.

“You have to allow those players to prove why they are doing well. If obviously the form goes down, then you start looking at other players.

“For me, it’s not a surprise whether they have selected [Sekhukhune United players], the squad has done pretty well.”

Sekhukhune go into the FIFA International break on top of the Betway Premiership after five games played. They have collected 13 points, equal to Kaizer Chiefs, but Sekhukhune have a superior goal difference. They have scored eight goals so far while conceding just one.
