Newly appointed Chippa United coach Luc Eymael has revealed his immediate task at the struggling club after officially taking over the reins most recently.
Eymael was on the bench when the Chilli Boys lost 3-0 to Orlando Pirates in a Betway Premiership clash at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.
He takes over from Sinethemba Badela, who surprisingly left the club after taking charge of just one match when they played to a 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Eymael, who sat on the bench alongside Morgan Mammila, believes he needs to instill a stronger mental aspect within the team.
“We have to work a lot on mentally. But I already worked on it, and I am trying. You saw that in the first 45 minutes the boys didn’t give up,โ he said after the match against Pirates.
WHAT LUC EYMAEL WANTS TO CHANGE AT THE BETWAY PREMIERSHIP SIDE

“We will work on the tactics and also physical, but at the end of day, certainly mental. We have to change the mentality because winning is a culture, and it’s been a long time since Chippa has finished in the top eight. So I think if we do that, it will be a good season.
โI knew that today [Sunday] it was going to be a very big challenge for us. I have been here for one week or so. But unfortunately, I am not a magician, I am just a hard worker,โ he added.

Eymael also shared some comparisons between the players in South Africa and the DR Congo where he recently coached Saint-Eloi Lupopo.
โThe players also need to understand that here in South Africa, it’s the Europe of Africa,โ he said.
โYou have everything. Nice pictures, nice accommodation, nice boots. You have everything. If you compare it to Congo, they are hungry.
โI think you guys don’t know where players stay in Congo and the kind of boots they have. They are hungry, and they want to play every day and every game because they want to get out of the country.”
