Former Kaizer Chiefs forward Lehlohonolo Majoro has shared his views on whether Amakhosi’s good start to the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season is a sign of a true revival, or merely a fleeting moment of good fortune.

The Soweto giants have stormed out of the gates in the new season, remaining unbeaten in their first five matches while keeping a remarkable five consecutive clean sheets. They have registered four wins and one draw.

In addition, the Glamour Boys are the only side yet to concede a goal this season.

Nasreddine Nabi’s troops won against Stellenbosch FC [2-0], Polokwane City FC [1-0], and Richards Bay FC [1-0], drew with Mamelodi Sundowns [0-0], and beat Golden Arrows [1-0] in their last game before the FIFA international break.

Majoro emphasised that Chiefs’ good start isn’t a fluke, as the players have put in the effort to achieve their current position, citing that their 2025 Nedbank Cup triumph has fuelled their performance this campaign.

“Here is the thing: most people forget that football is a game of emotions, and it’s a game of momentum in a way. I believe that they [Chiefs] have worked hard to be where they are. They have worked hard to win four out of the five matches they have played so far,” Majoro told FARPost.

“Also, I believe the motivation for them to win a trophy [Nedbank Cup] has driven them, because they have tasted glory. They know what it takes to win a trophy, and that is what is happening now with most players. They have to finish the job that has been set before them and execute differently because they know the feeling of lifting a trophy. That is what Chiefs require, and the players have gone through a lot.

“I think we owe it to them because you can’t always be the one receiving the short end of the stick. When they are winning, our country is happy, and we are happy as football fanatics. At the end of the day, Chiefs are a big team in the country and have more followers, whether we like it or not.

“They deserve everything that is happening now because the boys are turning the corner. All we want to see is for them to continue with that momentum.”

Amakhosi are currently second in the Betway Premiership standings with 13 points, level with log leaders Sekhukhune United. The two teams are separated only by goal difference.

Chiefs will be back in action after the FIFA international break against Babina Noko on Tuesday, 16 September, at the FNB Stadium in Soweto. The kick-off is at 19:30.
