‘He has to prove his worth’: Majoro on Etiosa Ighodaro joining Chiefs

Etiosa Ighodaro unveiled by Kaizer Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has shared his opinion on the club’s recent acquisition of striker Etiosa Ighodaro. The Nigerian forward was officially unveiled by Amakhosi over two weeks ago.

Ighodaro was presented to Amakhosi fans at the FNB Stadium during their Betway Premiership tie against Richards Bay FC on Tuesday, 19 August 2025. He was joined by Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman, who were also announced by the side.

The Soweto giants acquired the services of the talented frontman after he cut ties with the Betway Premiership defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Ighodaro arrived in South Africa in July 2021 to join Bafana Ba Style from the Nigerian side, Abuja College.

Since his arrival at Masandawana, the 24-year-old has played for a few PSL clubs on loan deals, including teams such as AmaTuks, Chippa United, the now-defunct SuperSport United, and most recently, AmaZulu FC. He has netted 25 goals in 97 matches in the South African elite league.

WHAT LEHLOHONOLO MAJORO SAID ABOUT ETIOSA IGHODARO’S SIGNING FOR KAIZER CHIEFS

Majoro emphasized that the Nigerian-born forward must demonstrate his value at Chiefs to prove to the supporters that he possesses the qualities to be part of the team and guide the club to greater heights.

“Well, being signed is one thing, but coming in and executing yourself is another. I’m saying this because I was once signed by Chiefs from AmaZulu FC due to my performance at AmaZulu,” said Majoro in an exclusive interview with FARPost.

“I still had to prove my worth within the team. I think that is all that is needed in football. You move from one club to another, encountering a new opportunity and a new environment. Therefore, you have to deliver because it is your job to prove why you are there in the first place.

“I can only wish him all the best of luck and congratulate him on signing with a team of Kaizer Chiefs’ calibre. The only thing he has to do is go there, play, and show the Chiefs fans why he is there.”
