George Matlou’s Agency Mscsports Talent Management Division has confirmed that the talented midfielder has extended his stay at Kaizer Chiefs for the 2025/26 season.
Two months ago, FARPost reported that Amakhosi decided to keep Matlou after his previous contract expired on June 30, 2025. This publication revealed that the Glamour Boys have given the 27-year-old a one-year contract extension.
The attacking midfielder signed for the Soweto giants in July 2022 on a free transfer after he cut ties with the now-defunct Moroka Swallows. Since his arrival at Chiefs, he played over 40 games and weighed in with three assists.
However, the Nasreddine Nabi-coached side has not yet released an official statement regarding the extension of the player’s contract. And before the start of the current campaign, reports suggested that Chiefs could let Matlou go once his contract ends, pointing to a congested squad as a likely factor.
In his position, he competes with the likes of Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Ethan Chislett, and the newly signed Lebohang Maboe.

MSCSPORTS TALENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION ON GEORGE MATLOU’S CONTRACT EXTENSION AT KAIZER CHIEFS
Following months of speculation, Mscsports Talent Management Division broke its silence on Monday, confirming that their client, George Matlou, has signed a new deal with Kaizer Chiefs. The announcement corroborates a previous report by this publication, with Matlou committing his future to the 2024/25 Nedbank Cup champions.
“George Matlou commits to the journey! The midfielder extends his stay with the Amakhosi,” said Mscsports Talent Management Division in a statement.
Last season, Matlou faced an extended period on the sidelines due to injury, but made a notable comeback in the final phase of the 2024/25 season.
His return proved crucial, as he played a key role in the Nedbank Cup semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns. In that match, he provided an assist for Ashley Du Preez, securing a 2-1 victory that helped Chiefs end a ten-year trophy drought.
