Durban City FC chairman Farook Kadodia has been left with fingers crossed, awaiting Kaizer Chiefs to make a decision on his target, striker Tashreeq Morris.
Kadodia is keen on adding Morris to his ranks on loan from Chiefs, as he seeks to reinforce his strikers department as the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season slowly gathers momentum.
Morris has remained frozen out this season, while The Glamour Boys enjoy a blistering start. Moreso, the arrival of three new forwards, Flavio Silva, Etiosa Ighodaro, and Khanyisa Mayo, further pushed him down the pecking order at the club.
The trio joined other strikers such as Wandile Duba, Ashley du Preez, and Glody Lilepo. If Morris remains at the club, he’ll likely continue to face challenges in securing a place in the starting lineup or even making the matchday squad, as has been the case so far this season.
Last season, Morris played nine league matches and featured in one Nedbank Cup appearance. In truth, it was a testing season for Morris, and the arrival of Silva, Ighodaro, and Mayo is telling.
However, Durban City FC are ready to give him a lifeline and a possible reunion with coach Gavin Hunt, whom he worked with at SuperSport United [now Siwelele FC].

FAROOK KADODIA REMAINS OPTIMISTIC, THOUGH CHIEFS ARE DRAGGING THEIR FEET
Chiefs are yet to make a decision regarding the 31-year-old striker. Nevertheless, Farook Kadodia remains optimistic, though Amakhosi are dragging their feet.
“I showed serious interest. They know it because I engaged them. Right now, I am waiting to hear from them because I am ready to have him. The deal is a bit delaying, I’ve no option but to wait,” Kadodia told FARPost.
Having won the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship, newly-promoted Durban City FC are enjoying a solid start to their debut season in the Betway Premiership. The team, formerly known as Maritzburg United, has secured two wins, two draws, and one loss in their first five matches.
As it stands, they are sixth on the log table with eight points to show for their efforts. They have a decent squad that includes veteran goalkeeper Darren Keet. Brooklyn Poggenpoel, Trevor Mokwena, Haashim Domingo, Thabo Nodada, Kyle Jurgens, Jean Lwamba, Liam De Kock, and Frederik Asare are some of their new signings.
They are still hoping to convince Zimbabwean striker Washington Navaya, who is currently on TelOne FC’s books in the Zimbabwe top-flight.
