Former Orlando Pirates and Chippa United defender Justice Chabalala has resurfaced at newly promoted Motsepe Foundation Championship side Gomora United.

Chabalala has been unattached since parting ways with Chippa at the end of last season. It was a second stint at the Betway Premiership side for the 33-year-old, who also spent time on loan at the club from Pirates in 2017.

However, surprisingly, Chabalala was among the players let go by the Chilli Boys, despite being one of the team’s leaders and key players. He also captained the side.

This publication has established that Chabalala started training with the club a week ago. After impressing the technical team led by Johnny Ferreira, Chabalala has now officially been signed by the new PSL club.

Chabalala has reportedly signed a season-long deal with a one-year option to join the Gauteng-based side. However, it remains uncertain whether he will feature in his debut match for Gomora against the University of Pretoria on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the club has also roped in some experienced players within their squad. This includes former Orlando Pirates defender Rooi Mahamutsa. The club has also signed well-travelled striker Mxolisi Macuphu.

NEW PSL SIDE GOMORA UNITED START THE SEASON WITH A WIN AND A DEFEAT

Before the FIFA international break, Gomora had a mixed start to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. They kicked off their season with a 1-0 victory against newcomers Leicesterford City FC, but then suffered a 2-1 defeat to Venda FC.

The team currently sits in seventh place with three points, just three points behind the league leaders, Casric Stars. A win in their next match could propel them further up the table, though the season is still in its early stages.
