Former Orlando Pirates captain Edelbert Dinha has made a bold prediction about the future of newly signed Bucs utility right-winger Kamogelo Sebelebele.

Having mentored Sebelebele, Dinha has high hopes for the new signing, stating he believes the talented player possesses exceptional potential.

Sebelebele joined Dinha’s Shumba Football Development at just 13 years old. After spending most of his early years honing his skills at the Gauteng-based academy, he was promoted to the senior team and began competing in the SAB League, the fourth division of SA football.

He later featured for TS Galaxy, where he earned a promotion to the first team after impressing in the reserve side.

Dinha praised Sebelebele’s rapid development, recalling his outstanding performance in the Under-19s at Shumba. “When he was at Under-19, he played a few games, and then we promoted him to the first team, which played in the SAB,” Dinha told FARPost.

“We saw that Mike is capable of going far with soccer, hence we promoted him from Under-19 to SAB. So we are not even shocked with where he is now because of the talent that he possessed,”

Dinha continued to assert that Sebelebele’s success was almost prophetic, as he and others involved in his career had long predicted his rise.

“We knew even when he was playing for the juniors that he is someone that will go far with his career. So we started pushing him, also with Lerato also our data analyst. She is now the conditioning coach for the TS Galaxy Ladies. So she also played a huge part in developing Mike in terms of agility, you know, all of those things that the conditioning coach does.”

DINHA PRAISES SEBELEBELE

The 23-year-old winger recently joined the Soweto giants following an impressive campaign with TS Galaxy during the 2024/25 PSL season. Sebelebele featured in 29 games across all competitions last season, scoring five goals and providing two assists.

Quick to make an impact at his new club, the speedy winger opened his goal account in an intense two-legged MTN8 semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns. He swiftly endeared himself to the Buccaneers’ supporters by netting another goal for Pirates in the second leg, helping them advance to a fourth consecutive MTN8 final. He has scored three goals in seven games across all competitions.

Dinha attested that the Pirates verstaile star has consistently displayed a professional attitude, which he has shown since his early development stages. “Yes, with Mike he is that type of player you know. Less talking outside the field and more talking on the field. With the quality he possessed even at the junior level, we knew he was going somewhere. He always wants to improve each and every game, so it’s easier for coaches to work with someone like that,” added the former Zimbabwe international.

The Shumba Development coach further praised the new Pirates sensation, predicting a bright future for him and calling him a potential superstar in South African football.

“I think Mike will be one of the best players in the country because he has all the attributes. He is fast, quick, and can score goals, as well as defend. So just to keep his head down and be humble, and the sky will be the limit.”
