In a country where securing major sponsorships is a challenge for many clubs, two of the Western Cape’s football sides, competing in the PSL, have announced new and extended partnerships as the 2025/26 season builds steam.
Despite competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Cape Town City FC have secured a major reunion with SportPesa SA. The gambling company returns as the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor, a role it previously held during the team’s successful years, which included their 2018 MTN8 title win.
With the club hoping to immediately bounce back to the top-flight, CT City chairman John Comitis will be hoping the renewed sponsorship can once again be their lucky charm.
In an official statement, the club, which has had a shaky start to the season with two draws, confirmed the partnership: “Cape Town City Football Club is proud to announce Leading international sports betting brand SportPesa, as the club’s title sponsor.”
The club stated that the renewed deal “reinforces SportPesa’s ongoing commitment to the growth of South African football.” In addition, the partnership will see SportPesa continue in its role as the Official Betting Partner of Cape Town City FC.
The new deal will see the SportPesa brand featured on CT City’s official playing kits, training apparel, and various stadium and digital assets. Beyond the branding, the partnership will also include a number of fan-focused initiatives, such as exclusive promotions, match-day activations, and community-based programmes.
CT City also stated that the partnership aligns with SportPesa’s mission to support local talent, drive innovation in sports entertainment, and promote responsible betting practices across South Africa.

STELLENBOSCH FC EXTENDS DEAL WITH RAMA
On the same day, Stellenbosch FC announced a three-year extension of its partnership with Rama, who will continue as the club’s headline and front-of-shirt sponsor.
The partnership has been a cornerstone of Stellies’ success since their first season in the top flight. This journey has seen them lift the 2023 Carling Knockout trophy, reach two consecutive MTN8 finals, and compete in the CAF Confederation Cup for a second straight season.
“Rama has been more than a sponsor – they’ve been part of our story since day one,” Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie said. “Their support as our headline sponsor has been vital to our progress, and this renewal reflects a shared commitment to growing both the club and the community.”
Siqalo Foods Managing Director Ross Plumbley added that the partnership “aligns with our commitment to driving positive social change” and acknowledged the role football plays in “uniting communities.”
