Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has issued an update on the availability of the right-back Khuliso Mudau following his contractual disputes with the club.
Mudau has missed all Sundowns’ matches so far in the 2025/26 season after the Tshwane giants reportedly rejected offers for his services from clubs in North Africa. As a result, the Bafana Bafana international was not part of the team, and he spent most of his time training alone while waiting for the issues at Masandawana to be resolved.
The Brazilians have seemingly made a breakthrough in resolving Mudau’s situation after the talented wing-back recently returned to training and rejoined his teammates.
Meanwhile, Bafana coach Hugo Broos also revealed that he had a meeting with the former Black Leopards star to help him resolve the problem at Sundowns to regain his position in the national team.
The 30-year-old defender missed out on the Bafana squad that played two crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria in Bloemfontein a few days ago.
Having returned to training over the past few weeks, Mudau’s coach, Miguel Cardoso, has stated that they are working on improving the defender’s match fitness, as he spent some time training on his own.
CARDOSO CAUTIONS AGAINST RUSHING MUDAU TO THE STARTING LINE-UP

“Khuliso is solving all the issues with the club, he’s training fantastically well, and we’re sure that pretty soon he will be able to help us,” Cardoso said at Lucas Moripe Stadium after Sundowns defeated Magesi FC 3-0 in the Betway Premiership on Sunday.
“We are absolutely sure that he will be able to help because he’s willing to help, and the people in charge of the club will take this with the right responsibility, the right commitment, and the right intention to put Mudau back into the team.
“So we’re absolutely working together on everything, and Khuliso is training very well. There were a few issues that most of them have already been solved. The expectation is that soon he can help us.
“But also, we need to understand that Khuliso came from a period where he was training alone, and you cannot put a Bafana Bafana player in a match when he’s still not at the level that people want to see him in. I don’t want people to see a player on the pitch and say, ‘Who is that guy?’ and we want him when he enters the pitch to fly.”
