Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine has spoken out on the squad size of Amakhosi, hinting at the potential offloading of more players with the transfer window closing later this month.
The Tunisian coach shared his thoughts on the Chiefs squad on Monday morning at the club base in Naturena in a media open day. Chiefs are preparing to face the in-form Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday night in a battle for the number one spot on the league table.
The Soweto giants have had an impressive start to the 2025/26 season, winning four games and drawing one in their first five matches. Chiefs are currently occupying third position on the log standings with 13 points, and they are the only side that’s yet to concede a goal this season.
In the off-season, the Glamour Boys signed more than 10 quality players to build a strong squad in order to also improve from their ninth-place finish in the previous season.
Chiefs welcomed new faces such as Etiosa Ighodaro, Lebohang Maboe, Khanyisa Mayo, Asanele Velebayi, Ethan Chislett, Paseka Mako, Luke Baartman, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Flavio Silva, Nkanyiso Shinga, and Thabiso Monyane.

On the other hand, they released Edmilson Dove, Bongani Sam, Sabelo Radebe, Tebogo Potsane, Ranga Chivaviro, Edson Castillo, Njabulo Blom, Mduduzi Mdantsane, while Yusuf Maart was sold to SV Ried in Austria.
With Chiefs having 38 players registered in their squad, Nabi admitted that the squad size is big and they are looking at options to release more players.
“Yes, it’s true that the squad is big and the technical staff and the sporting director, Mr Kaizer Motaung Jr, are working on trying to offload the squad,” Nabi said.
“We’re looking to give possibilities to players who didn’t have the consistency or enough time to play. Also, for young players, we’re looking to get them the experience in other clubs in the PSL, and everyone is aware of that; we’re working around the clock.”
