OFFICIAL: Durban City FC confirm Mashego’s acquisition

Terrence Mashego officially unveiled by Durban City FC

Durban City FC have officially confirmed the acquisition of defender Terrence Mashego from the Betway Premiership defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

This announcement comes six days after FARPost reported that the KwaZulu-Natal club has reached an agreement with Bafana Ba Style for the services of the highly-rated left-back, Mashego.

Mashego struggled for game time at Masandawana, having joined the Chloorkop-based outfit in September 2022 from the relegated Cape Town City FC.

In the last campaign, the 29-year-old only played in 13 games across all competitions for the Tshwane giants. As a result, Mashego sought a transfer with the aim of rejuvenating his career. Overall, in Sundowns colours so far, Mashego made 45 appearances and found the back of the net on one occasion.

Meanwhile, Durban City also announced the signing of former Orbit College FC striker Letsie Koapeng, who announced his departure from the North West side four days ago.

The 33-year-old frontman was instrumental in Orbit’s success when they gained promotion to the Betway Premiership after winning the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs. He netted the crucial goal against CT City in Rustenburg that secured their promotion to the SA football top-flight.

In the SA elite league, Koapeng featured in three games out of the five matches played by Orbit. In those three outings, he managed to score one goal.
