Kaizer Chiefs have named the 22-man squad travelling to Angola for Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup, first preliminary round, first leg clash with Kabuscorp SCP at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Talatona.
The Soweto giants are back in CAF inter-club competitions for the first time since reaching the final of the 2020/21 CAF Champions League campaign. But this time around, they participate in the second tier of club football on the continent.
Fresh from losing 3-1 to Sekhukhune United in a Betway Premiership match on Tuesday, Amakhosi will be hoping that result does not weigh them down on Saturday. They face a different test from Kabuscorp, who edged Interclube 1-0 in an Angolan Girabola match on Tuesday.
Amakhosi were expected to leave Johannesburg on Thursday without coach Nasreddine Nabi, who is said to be on his way out of the club. After the Sekhukhune setback and the Nabi issue, it marks a difficult week for Chiefs, who are under scrutiny to see if they have the character to get past those challenges.
CHIEFS SQUAD TO FACE KABUSCORP
Regular faces make up the travelling party, which does not have surprises, but injured right-back Thabiso Monyane will miss a second successive match after picking up an injury in the run-up to the Sekhukhune game.

Recently signed striker Khanyisa Mayo will have to wait a little longer before making his Chiefs debut after being left behind. Also waiting for maiden Amakhosi appearances are Nkanyiso Shinga, Ethan Chislett, Etiosa Ighodaro, Luke Baartman and Asanele Velebayi.
Tashreeq Morris did not make it amid transfer rumours that he could be loaned out, while Dillan Solomons is also not part of the Luanda mission.
