Former Orlando Pirates forward Lehlohonolo Majoro has lavished praise on a current Buccaneers attacker, hailing his mindset and drawing comparisons to football legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The praise comes on the back of the playerโs consistent and impressive performances for the Soweto giants, both in the previous season and the current one.
Majoro pointed out that the player possesses a rare mentalityโone that drives him to constantly strive for improvement and push his boundaries each season.
The subject of Majoro’s high praise is none other than Tshegofatso Mabasa. Last season, Mabasa was the club’s leading goal scorer, finding the back of the net 15 times across all competitions.
His momentum has carried into the new campaign, where he played a pivotal role in the MTN8 final against Stellenbosch FC, scoring a crucial goal in a 3-0 victory that secured the Sea Robbers their fourth consecutive title.
To date, the 28-year-old forward has made five appearances for Pirates this season, registering one goal and one assist.

Mabasa is also on the verge of making history, as he is just 12 goals shy of breaking Benedict “Tso” Vilakaziโs record as the clubโs all-time leading goal scorer. Vilakazi holds the record with 58 goals, while Mabasa currently has 47.
WHY LEHLOHONOLO MAJORO COMPARES MABASA’S MENTALITY TO MESSI AND RONALDO
Majoro emphasised that Mabasa’s “never-die” attitude and constant desire for self-improvement are what set him apart.
He believes the forward is never satisfied with his past achievements, always striving to be better than he was the season before.
โTshegofatso Mabasa is another player who has a history of his own. He was the top goal scorer of the team last season and is not far from breaking Benedict Vilakaziโs record as the clubโs all-time top goal scorer. These are the players you know have the drive to do better,โ Majoro told FARPost.
โI listened to an interview where he said he wants to score more goals than he did last season. That, on its own, is a sign of a player who is not satisfied with his achievements, and those are the mentalities of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messiโalways challenging themselves to do better than they did in the previous season.โ
