Newly-promoted AmaTuks head coach Kwanele Kopo has continued his unwanted winless run with the club after playing to a goalless draw in the Motsepe Foundation Championship against Hungry Lions FC.
The Pretoria-based side dropped points at Tuks Stadium on Saturday, taking their winless run in the 2025/26 season to four matches. AmaTuks shared spoils with Highbury FC, Black Leopards, Gomora United, and Hungry Lions, with Kopo yet to guide his charges to a victory.
The former Chippa United head coach took over the coaching job in the off-season, replacing Tlisane Motaung, who was let go after his contract expired. Before taking the reins at Tuks, Kopo was in charge of Chippa in the Betway Premiership.
The challenging start to the campaign could prove detrimental for AmaTuks, as they have ambitions for automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership next season.
NEWCOMERS GOMORA UNITED FALL TO UPINGTON CITY FC
Elsewhere, Gomora United, who are new in the league, suffered a 1-0 defeat against Upington City FC at the Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium on Saturday.
Gomora are new in the Motsepe Foundation after gaining promotion to the second division through the ABC Motsepe League national playoffs. After their promotion, Gomora have claimed one win, one draw, and suffered two losses in the opening four matches of the campaign.
In another clash on Saturday in the NFD, Black Leopards played to an entertaining 1-1 against Lerumo Lions at Thohoyandou Stadium. On the other hand, Cape Town City FC’s frustrating start to life in the Championship took another turn for the worse after playing to a 1-1 draw against Kruger United. The Citizens have dropped points on four occasions following their relegation to the second-tier, with three draws and one defeat so far.
