Tanzanian giants Simba SC have provided an update on their head coach, Fadlu Davids, who is heavily linked with a potential exit.
The former Orlando Pirates and Maritzburg United coach is linked to a move to Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic. Following the departure of head coach Lassaad Chabbi, Raja Casablanca is actively seeking a replacement. The 64-year-old recently saw his second tenure with the club end, prompting the search for a new coach.
Speculation intensified after part of the technical bench, including Fadlu and his assistants, did not return to Tanzania with the team. This was after Wekundu Wa Msimbazi beat Gaborone United 1-0 in the CAF Champions League preliminary round match at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown on Saturday.
Simba board chairperson Crescentius Magori told reporters at Julius Nyerere International Airport on Sunday, shortly after arriving from Botswana, that an official statement would be issued soon.
He went on to state that the club’s primary focus remains on Thursday’s Mainland Premier League match against Fountain Gate FC.
WHAT MAGORI SAID ABOUT FADLU DAVIDS’ FUTURE

“As for Coach Fadlu Davids, the time will come for us to issue an official statement. For now, our attention is fully on the upcoming match,” Magori said, as quoted by Daily News.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Ally, the club’s media and communications officer, confirmed that Davids and several team members were still in South Africa.
“Yes, Coach Fadlu Davids and his assistants are still in South Africa, along with players Neo Maema and Rushine De Reuck. They are on a short break and will rejoin the team when training resumes on Tuesday,” Ally said, according to Daily News.
While Ally neither confirmed nor dismissed the speculation about formal approaches or ongoing negotiations with Raja, he stated that he had no knowledge of such matters.
“What I can confirm is that our coach and players are on a short break and will be back soon,” he added.
