Following a high-profile move from Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC to Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic, coach Fadlu Davids has opened up on his decision to leave the Dar es Salaam-based club.
As reported by FARPost, Davids did not return to Tanzania with Simba following their 1-0 win against Botswana side Gaborone United in the CAF Champions League first-leg preliminary round encounter on Saturday. After the game at the Obert Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown, Botswana, the 44-year-old coach boarded a flight straight to South Africa.
A day later, Davids was unveiled by Raja on Monday afternoon. He was a part of the club during the 2023/24 season. At that time, he was serving as an assistant coach to former Orlando Pirates gaffer Josef Zinnbauer.
Last season, Davids guided Simba SC to a second-place finish in the Tanzanian Premier League and led the club to the CAF Confederation Cup final, where they lost 3-1 on aggregate to Moroccan side RS Berkane
In addition, reports indicate that Davids departed Simba with some of his technical team.
