Katlego Otladisa joins new club after Pirates exit

Katlego Otladisa with Orlando Pirates

Former Orlando Pirates winger Katlego Otladisa has rejoined his former club Marumo Gallants for a second stint after parting ways with the Buccaneers a few weeks ago.

The skilful winger penned a deal with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa as a free agent after spending the past weeks searching for a club in the Betway Premiership, aiming to bring his career back on track.

Otladisa had an unsuccessful stint with Pirates after joining at the start of the 2023/24 season from Gallants, following their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. The Bloemfontein-based side made their return to the top-flight after purchasing the status of cash-strapped Moroka Swallows in July 2024.

High expectations greeted Otladisa at Pirates, but he couldn’t break into the starting line-up because of the fierce competition for a spot on the team. The 29-year-old managed only 12 appearances in all competitions during his first season, without scoring any goals.

In the 2024/25 campaign, Otladisa’s challenges of finding game-time continued, which led Pirates to send him on loan to Sekhukhune United in the January 2025 transfer window.

Following the limited contribution at Sekhukhune, the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker returned to his parent club; however, the Soweto giants opted against keeping him.

In the past few days, Otladisa resurfaced at newly-promoted Betway Premiership side Durban City FC, looking to impress Gavin Hunt and earn a contract. However, the club’s chairman, Farook Kadodia, came out to say that Otladisa is far from being ready for competitive football, and he’s not in a good state of mind, as he’s receiving red cards at training.

As a result, the KZN-based side decided against signing him, leaving the door open for a reunion with Gallants.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa announced the signing of Otladisa on Tuesday, 23 September, to beef up their attacking options for the remainder of the season.

“Marumo Gallants FC is proud to welcome back our former right winger, Katlego Otladisa. Let’s give him the loudest welcome,” the club said on social media.
