‘I will be punished if I speak’: Chippa coach on penalty decision

Betway Premiership tie between Sekhukhune United and Chippa United

Chippa United head coach Luc Eymael has expressed his dissatisfaction with a penalty decision that was awarded to Sekhukhune United in their Betway Premiership tie on Wednesday night.

The Chilli Boys and Babina Noko settled for a 1-1 draw in their league game played at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, with Sekhukhune awarded two penalties on the day.

The Gqeberha-based outfit was the first team to find the back of the net in the 53rd minute of the contest through Boy Madingwane. However, Sekhukhune’s on-form frontman Bradley Grobler, levelled matters in the 79th minute from the spot kick.

Eymael argues that the home side should not have been awarded the first penalty, because he believes it wasn’t a penalty, which was converted by Grobler.

Meanwhile, Eymael acknowledged that the second penalty, which occurred in the dying minutes of the showdown, was indeed a penalty. However, this time around, Grobler failed to score as Stanley Nwabali saved it.

WHAT LUC EYMAEL SAID ABOUT TWO PENALTIES AWARDED TO SEKHUKHUNE UNITED

Eymael mentioned that expressing his views on the penalties given to Sekhukhune could lead to repercussions for him.

“If I speak, I will be punished. For me, the first one, there was no penalty. However, the second one is a penalty. But look, three penalties in two games? No! No!,” said Eymael.

“I’m a little disappointed because I think we could have kept three points, especially on the first decision regarding the penalty. But I think the second was a penalty, but by the grace of God, Stanley saved it.

“However, I’m happy we succeeded in blocking them; that’s what I wanted, and I wanted to play counter-attack, even though it is not my playing style. But we succeeded in doing that, and I’m very proud.”

Chippa are currently languishing at the bottom [15th place] of the Betway Premiership log standings with five points from eight outings.
