Chippa United head coach Luc Eymael has clarified what he says was a misunderstanding regarding the unavailability of captain Stanley Nwabali in the club’s previous match.
The Nigerian international returned to the starting line-up for the Chilli Boys during their 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United in a Betway Premiership clash at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Wednesday evening.
But before that game, Nwabali was a notable absentee during Chippa’s 2-1 loss to Polokwane City FC over the weekend. His absence created the impression that he could be leaving the club, especially since the July/September transfer window was still open before it closed on Monday
What also fuelled the speculation were Eymael’s comments that there is an internal issue that the club needs to sort out with the 29-year-old.

However, Eymael has since clarified that there was no issue between Nwabali and the club, besides him nursing an injury.
“In fact, it’s a question of misunderstanding. It was a question of injury, and I did not understand what happened very well,โ said Eymael.
CHIPPA UNITED COACH ACKNOWLEDGES HE MISUNDERSTOOD COMMUNICATION ON AVAILABILITY OF HIS CAPTAIN
โThere was some kind of miscommunication, not only with Stanley but also with the medical staff. He also made an effort to play because he is not 100 per cent, but you saw his importance [in the Sekhukhune game]. He is very secure, calm for the defence, and all these things. But there has been a miscommunication,โ added Eymael.
โBut I didn’t want to talk because I didn’t know exactly; when you [media] asked me, I said it’s private because I didn’t know exactly because the other one was saying that and the other one was saying that. You know.
โSo when I didn’t have the word or communication of everybody, then I could not analyse. That’s why I said that, and I didn’t translate well.โ
