Mamelodi Sundowns have announced the signing of Portuguese midfielder Miguel Reisinho, a few days after welcoming another highly-rated foreign player, Nuno Santos.
The 26-year-old arrives at Chloorkop as a free agent after parting ways with crisis-ridden Liga Portugal Boavista side in July, and the length of his Sundowns contract is yet to be revealed.
He becomes the fourth player to be signed by Sundowns this season after Faawaz Basadien, Katlego โTsikiโ Ntsabeleng and Santos.
The Brazilians confirmed Reisinhoโs signing on Friday as they seek to reinforce their midfield in a season they have started slowly. Fresh from losing their first league game following a 1-0 defeat by Golden Arrows on Wednesday, Sundowns have two points fewer than log leaders Sekhukhune United, having played a game more.ย
That complicates Sundownsโ bid for a ninth straight Betway Premiership title. In recent seasons, they would have already pulled away in the title race at this stage, but they now find themselves being part of the chasing pack.
WHO IS SUNDOWNS’ NEW SIGNING REISINHO?

Reisinho spent part of his development years at Vitoria Guimaraes and played for their reserves side. Interestingly, Victoria Guimaraes is a former team of Nuno Santos who started at Boavista and the two Portuguese players now find themselves at Masandawana.
Both former Portugal youth internationals played together for their countryโs Under-18, 19 and 20 national teams. That could give compatriot coach Miguel Cardoso an idea of how to get the best combination between the two central midfielders familiar with each other.
Reisinho was also a teammate of Durban City FC midfielder Haashim Diomingo in the Vitoria Guiamaraes B side.
Sundowns are now preparing to face Richards Bay FC in a league match on Saturday, and Reisinho could make his debut after Nuno Santos made his maiden appearance for the Brazilians against Golden Arrows on Wednesday.ย
