Kaizer Chiefs have secured a place in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup after defeating Kabuscorp SCP 5-4 on penalties at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The match finished 1-1 on aggregate in regulation time after the two clubs won their home legs 1-0.
Chiefs switched their focus to continental football after dropping points in the Betway Premiership against Marumo Gallants in a midweek match at home.
The Glamour Boys are winless in the last three matches after suffering a 3-1 defeat against Sekhukhune United, followed by a 1-0 loss to Kabuscorp before sharing the spoils with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa.
The loss against Kabuscorp put them under immense pressure to overturn the scoreline in the second leg in Soweto in front of their supporters.

Amakhosi returned to the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the 2025 Nedbank Cup with a 2-1 victory over rival Orlando Pirates in May. With the Soweto giants eager to progress to the second preliminary round, they began the match against the Angolan side with high intensity, pushing for an early goal.

In the opening stages, the Naturena side created a handful of clear-cut chances. However, they couldnโt capitalise on the scoring opportunities.
The Glamour Boys eventually broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, thanks to a strike from Glody Lilepo, who pounced on a rebound from the Kabuscorp goalkeeper.
After netting in the closing minutes of the first half, Amakhosi went into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead on the day and 1-1 on aggregate. In the second stanza, Chiefs maintained their high tempo in search of a second goal to put the match to bed.
As the match approached the 90th minute, both teams struggled to maintain momentum. In the closing stages, tackles started flying in from both sets of players as they searched for a winning goal.
The referee blew the final whistle with the encounter level on 1-1 on aggregate, sending the match straight to penalties to decide which team would secure the spot in the next round. Chiefs won 5-4 on penalties.
