Flavio Silva sheds light on his Chiefs adaptation

Kaizer Chiefs striker Flavio Silva has shed light on his adaptation at the Glamour Boys following his arrival ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

Silva is part of the long list of new players who joined Chiefs as they look to build a competitive squad and fight for major trophies. The 29-year-old joined Amakhosi from Persebaya Surabaya in Indonesia as a proven goal-scorer, having netted nine goals in 33 matches last campaign and an impressive 23 goals in just 29 matches the season prior.

The striker joined Chiefs alongside other notable players, including Lebohang Maboe, Khanyisa Mayo, Etiosa Ighodaro, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Ethan Chislett, Thabiso Monyane, Nkanyiso Shinga, Paseka Mako, Asanele Velebayi, and Luke Baartman.

But Silva had a slow start to life at Chiefs after facing tough competition in the striking department from Ashley Du Preez and Wandile Duba in the early stages of the campaign.

Silva has featured in three matches in all competitions and scored his first goal against Golden Arrows in the league a few weeks ago. In his first start at the Naturena-based side, Silva scored his second at Chiefs when they lost 3-1 against Sekhukhune United in the Premiership on the 16th of September at FNB Stadium.

Meanwhile, Silva has faced considerable negative feedback about his potential to lead the Chiefs’ striking force; however, he has revealed that his adaptation has been smooth since bringing his family to South Africa.

“I am very happy because I am motivated to help the team. We have big targets and lots of ambition, and I am delighted to contribute. Collecting points is more important than the goals, so I am happier with my first goal because it helped us to get a victory,” said Silva.

“A few years ago, I came to South Africa and visited FNB Stadium for a match against a Ghanaian team. The atmosphere was beautiful, so for me, my first game was very, very special. I felt happy to play there myself.

“So Iโ€™m okay. My family has arrived, which is the most important thing outside of football. I have been here a few months, and I am starting to get used to it, and I am feeling happy.”
